Ma’ema’e Daily Face Polish

$60.00

Handmade in Minneapolis by ROMI Apothecary

Inspired by growing up in Honolulu, Hawai’i, ma’ema’e means “to cleanse” in Hawaiian. This triple-filtered, fine-particle polish was formulated to gently exfoliate and refine the texture of your skin without stripping away your skin’s natural protective barrier. When you notice that your oil serums are not absorbing as effectively or perhaps your skin is a bit rough in some areas, it’s time to exfoliate! Physically exfoliating dead skin with a nutritive and cleansing combination of herbs, oat powders, and clay can reveal a glowing complexion and allow for better absorbency of toners and oils through the epidermis. Also wonderful as a mask!

The Magic: The alchemy of turning dry powder into a vibrant paste right in the palm of your hand is a joyous tactile experience that ignites the senses while benefiting your skin. Freshly harvested moringa leaf from the Big Island of Hawai’i, Pacific Ocean spirulina, hibiscus flower, and shade-grown matcha reflect the flavors, culture, and Aloha of the Hawaiian islands while providing a high amount of phytonutrients like B vitamins, beta-carotene, amino acids, and vitamin K.  Combined with kaolin clay, finely milled lavender, oat, rose, and rice bran, the effect is even more pore cleansing, detoxifying, and smoothing.

How does it smell? Clay, mineral, traces of the Ocean, faint herbaceousness from lavender and rose.

How to use: Gently tap the open bottle over the palm of your hand to sprinkle approximately 1 teaspoon of Ma’ema’e Face Polish. Using your free hand, drizzle water from fingertips into the powder mixture until a thin paste is formed. Wet your face with water or a generous spritz of Rose and Yarrow toner before applying the paste to your skin. Gently massage the polish with fingertips over your skin for 2-3 minutes, using small circular motions and concentrating on areas of congestion. Add more water/toner as needed. Avoid the eyes! Rinse off with lukewarm water. Use a damp soft cloth for easier removal or rinse off in the shower.

As a mask: Combine a teaspoon of polish with honey and/or yogurt and apply to the skin for approximately 15 minutes. Try adding a couple drops of our Restore serum. If the mask is too thin, add more polish. If the mask is too thick, dilute with more toner or water. Rinse off before the mask becomes completely dry, otherwise it may be too drying. Apply a warm washcloth over the face and hold to loosen up the mask. Rinse off and avoid scrubbing or pulling on your skin.
